Cadet College, a special academic institution governed by the Military Forces, offers junior scholars of the country an attractive opportunity to develop personality , smartness, scholarship and prepare them potential citizens of the country. Bangladesh Defense Force i.e, Air Force, Army and Navy always looks for potential smart officers with good leadership quality, good academic background and physically, mentally, emotionally and socially fit for fighting for the country. Cadet College is their special step to fulfill this desire. Sylhet Cadet College is the 1st Cadet College established after the liberation war in Bangladesh. In a Cadet College, academic training as well as military training is provided to the young brilliant boys of the country. It is totally a scholarship program. There is no fixed tuition fees or other fees, the fees are determined considering the income of a cadet's guardian so that, every student of any economic class can afford to study here. Cadet Colleges are located away from big cities. A cool, calm and serene natural euphoric ecstatic environment, a rich academic faculty, highly qualified teaching assistance provide the students a very nice mental refreshment. They get inspired to be a brave, scholar, potential and smart leader of the country. No political or other instability can disturb the activities and programs of Cadet Colleges. So, this educational system is liked by all. Only 50 students in each Cadet College get admission in a year. A tough competitive admission test takes place every year to admit the 12 years age students in class 7. Students live here for 6 years and they leave this institution after Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (High School Graduation). There is a leave after every two or three months for 20 days, so that, A cadet gets chance to get touch of the outside world,live with their parents, relative and other friends and feel good. In a word "Cadet College" is a successful program of Bangladesh Defense Force as well as Bangladesh Government.
When Bangladesh and Pakistan were a joined country, Pakistan Military Force established some Cadet Colleges in West Pakistan (Now Pakistan) and some Cadet Colleges in East Pakistan (Now Bangladesh). After the liberation war, Bangladesh Defense Force established six more Cadet Colleges (among them one cadet college, Mymensingh Girls Cadet College , was established for girls). Sylhet Cadet is the 1st Cadet College after the liberation war of 1971. Basically this college was established in Pakistan time as a Model School in 1969. In 1974, it was modified and converted to a Model College. Bangladesh Defense force modified this Model College and converted it to a Cadet College in 1978. In 1979, An admission test took place for selecting the students from Model College to keep them in this new modified Cadet College. And first , second and third batch of this new Cadet College was from the Model College, and in the same year a fresh new batch ( 4th Batch ) was taken as fresh Cadet. First Batch passed the college in 1982 and first intake i.e. fourth batch passed in 1985. And from that time, an admission test started taking place every year to admit new cadets in class seven.
Our Cadet College is in 5th Position in chronological scale considering all Cadet Colleges, in the same time, this Cadet College is the 5th largest Cadet College considering it's area.

This Cadet College is located at seven kms north to the Sylhet City, east to the Osmani Air Port Road, in a green and high hill oriented cool and serene environment.
Natural beauty and Environment of Sylhet as well as S.C.C.
Nestled in the picturesque Surma Valley amidst scenic tea plantations and lush green tropical forests, greater Sylhet is a prime attraction for all tourists visiting Bangladesh. Lying between the Khasia and the Jaintia hills on the north and the Tripura hills on the south, Sylhet breaks the monotony of the flatness of this land by a multitude of terraced tea gardens, rolling countryside and the exotic flora and fauna. Here the thick tropical forests abound with many species of wild life, scented orange groves and luxuriant pineapple plantations spread their aroma around the typical hearth and homes of the Manipuri Tribal maidens famous for their dance. The Sylhet valley is formed by a beautiful, winding pair of rivers named the Surma and the Kushiara both of which are fed by innumerable hill streams from the north and the south. The valley has good number of haors. During winter these haors are vast stretches of green land, but in the rainy season they turn into a turbulent sea. These haors provide a sanctuary to the millions of migratory birds who fly from across the Himalayas to avoid the severe cold of Siberia. For miles and miles around, the visitor can see the tea gardens spread like a green carpet over the plain land or on the sloping hills. Sylhet, the tea granary of Bangladesh, not only has over 150 tea gardens but also proudly possesses three largest tea gardens in the world both in area and production.
Madhabkunda: About 3 km. from Dakhinbagh Railway Station there is the famous waterfall of Madhabkunda which attracts large number of tourists every year.
Tamabil-Jaflong: Situated amidst splendid panorama, Tamabil is a border out post on sylhet - Shilong Road about 55 km away from sylhet town. Besides enchanting views of the area one can also have a glimpse of the waterfalls across the border from Tamabil. Jaflong is also a scenic spot nearby amidst tea gardens and rare beauty of rolling stones from hills. For accommodation at Sylhet town, some reasonably good hotels are availalble. Rest house accommodation at Srimangal and other places are also available for tourists.

The egg shaped monogram contains an open book focusing a flame of light over light on a tea plant (two leaves and a bud) bordered by three colors of three services of the armed forces on a violet background. Violet is the color of the college. The outer shape of the emblem is depicted like shapla (lotus), the national flower. At the bottom of the emblem is written the name of the college.
The flag is divided into three part. The upper left part holds the monogram of the college. the bottom part is colored in college color violet. the upper right part consists of three part,colored in the house colors of three houses of the college. The upper part is colored in house color of Titumir House, Blue. The middle part is colored in the house color of Hazrat Shahjalal(R:) House, red. The bottom part is colored in green, the house color of Surma House.
In Cadet Colleges residential halls are called houses. There are three houses in Sylhet Cadet College.

Every year, about 50 to 55 students get admitted in a cadet college in class 7. and they live here for six years. So, At a time, in a College, six batches remain present , so the number of cadets is about 300. Each of the three mentioned houses accommodates about 100 cadets.
